Legacies of the British Empire
Thursday 9 October 7.30pm - 9pm
We are thrilled that Iain Kennedy, who is a local Fernhurst resident, has agreed to come and talk to us about the story of the British Empire. Iain has extensive knowledge on this topic and spends much of his time on the high seas on the cruise ship enrichment network. His talk will cover such areas as the accumulation and then the dissipation of the Empire and how it still raises sharp debate, asking such questions as "do we owe the world an apology or can we celebrate a genuine and worthy contribution to civilisation?".
Whatever your opinion, do come along for what should be a very lively and interesting debate. There will be an opportunity for a Q&A session after the talk.
