How the Hub collects information

The Hub collects and stores information provided by individuals as outlined in this and the next paragraph.

The Hub’s website makes limited use of essential cookies in order to function. A cookie is information sent by a web server to a web browser and stored by the browser when a website is visited. A cookie allows the browser to identify that an individual has visited the website and to ‘remember’ specific settings or preferences indicated in the past; it does not give the Hub access to the individual’s computer or any information other than that actively provided by the individual. Cookies can be disabled but certain aspects of the website may then not work properly. The Hub does not use cookies to market or track individual website usage.  Any use made by the Hub of data analytics and scrutiny of website traffic is on an anonymised basis.

Note that the Hub’s website contains a limited number of links to third party websites. The Hub does not accept responsibility for how any personal information is stored or used where an individual has chosen to share such information with third parties linked from the Hub website.

The type of information that is collected and held

The Centre uses CCTV inside the Centre for the purposes of crime prevention. Footage is kept on a rolling basis and old footage deleted.

During the coronavirus pandemic from July 2020, the Hub collected contact details of its visitors for Test & Trace purposes. These data were destroyed after 21 days. The need to do this was largely superseded by the introduction of a bespoke NHS test and trace location specific QR code.

The Hub collects and holds personal data in relation to the following:

·       contact information provided by subscribers actively opting in to receive newsletters and related updates;

·       volunteers and their duties;

·       information about Hub course or event attendance and feedback;

·       membership of a Hub scheme such as Friends or film Club;

·       supplier details;

·       trustee and contractor details;

What the Hub does with the information collected

The Hub uses the information collected to keep in touch with data subjects by email, by telephone and post and to conduct the activity for which the data was provided and notify them of other events and activities at and information about the Hub.

The Hub will not disclose to or share with any third party any personal data for marketing or any other purposes. The Hub does not hold data regarding children under 18 under except where a name is noted under the name of their parent or carer to indicate attendance at events.

Control and security of personal data and rights of the individual

Personal data held online by the Hub is protected by password and only accessible to and used by relevant members of the Hub’s management team. Regular reviews of data held are undertaken to ensure details are up to date.

Individuals may opt out of all or any type of communications undertaken by the Hub at any time by contacting the Hub or by using the unsubscribe option contained within online communications.

An individual whose contact information is held by the Hub has a range of rights under applicable data protection laws including the right to access the information held about him or her and the right to require it to be updated.
